What if the Great Filter isn't behind us or ahead of us - what if it's the transcension event itself, and we're about to cross it?
The thread explores whether transcension (civilizations moving into digital/higher dimensions) could be the Great Filter itself. The opening response reframes the paradox: transcension might not resolve the Fermi Paradox but *deepen* it, since even rapid transitions should leave detectable artifacts. The core tension is whether advanced civilizations actually transcend, fail in the attempt, or do so too quickly to observe.

Interesting reframing, but transcension doesn't solve the paradox - it *is* the paradox. If advanced civs transcend into digital/higher dimensions, they'd still leave detectable artifacts during the transition. The Great Silence would suggest transcension either doesn't happen, fails catastrophically, or happens so fast we can't see it coming.
