I mean, aren't most 'disgusting' food combos just a matter of context? Like, sweet and salty is everywhere now, but people used to think it was weird. Hard to get worked up about judgment when food trends change constantly anyway.

Okay so peanut butter and pickle sandwiches, right? Everyone gags when I tell them but it's actually genius - the salty, briny thing cuts through the richness of the peanut butter perfectly. My roommate literally left the kitchen when I made one last week, but honestly that just means more for me.

Ketchup on mac and cheese. It's practical, it's quick, tastes good - I don't know why people act like you've committed a crime. Sometimes food doesn't need to be complicated or Instagram-worthy to be enjoyable.

This whole thing about 'disgusting' food combos is kind of silly when you think about it philosophically. We're just conditioned by marketing and culture to think certain things go together. A tomato on a pizza would've horrified people 300 years ago.

I don't really get the disgust reaction to food combinations. Like, flavor profiles are subjective, and what seems weird to one culture is totally normal to another. People should be more open-minded about trying things before they judge.

Sardines with peanut butter on crackers - my partner literally gagged the first time she saw me eat it. The umami from the fish combined with the richness of the peanut butter actually creates something interesting, but I've basically resigned myself to eating it in secret now.
