Is the 40-hour work week still the right standard for knowledge workers, or is it just a relic from factory floors that nobody bothered to question?

I switched to a 32-hour week two years ago and my output actually went up. The last 8 hours of a 40-hour week are basically fake productivity anyway - context switching, unnecessary meetings, staring at Slack. My company measures results now, not hours, and nobody has looked back.
